Pea Soup?!? WTF?

April 5, 2009 at 7:32 pm (Uncategorized)

Ever had one of those moments, when something pops into your head and before you can think about it…it’s flying out of your mouth. Had one of those the other day.

There i am sitting at my desk, working on a daily project…and out of my mouth comes the words “Pea Soup!” in a low and raspy voice. What the hell?! I’m not crazy i swear…however….here’s the best part, The guy that sits next to me cracks up laughing, probably because it sounded pretty frickin funny…but even more so because he knew exactly where i had got it from! LOL.

The little blurb erupted from my brain from a memory of a disney movie i saw almost 20 years ago. The Rescuers Down Under. Tell me…what are the odds of that? I’m gonna buy a lottery ticket…….

7:05 into the clip is the part in question. LOL! Still laughing about it.

Here it is. My favorite gaming console. Why? I’m a fan of Sony. I’m a self proclaimed game geek (and proud of it!) I know there are way to many people out there comparing PS3 to Xbox 360. I hate that, i’m sure both machines are equal in some way, shape or form. Except for maybe the fact that on release, almost 60% of xbox 360’s sold had bunk power supply’s (and they’re made by microsoft).

I am glad i bought mine before sony made one of the DUMBEST moves of all time. Lets release a game console with amazing potential….we’ll give you 3 different versions to choose from to suit your needs, plus throw in a bunch of sweet bells and whistles. Now…..a year or two later, lets take away the backwards compatibility, and i think you have to many bells, so we’ll take some of those away too. ugh.

A few “Must Play” classics

April 5, 2009 at 6:57 pm (Gamer's Corner) ()

secret_of_mana_boxSecret of Mana – SNES

Too much fun! I have yet to find a similar rpg for any console. The live action combat style is what does it for me. Most rpg’s i’ve played all have the classic turn based style…which is ok, but in my opinion this is better.

Its fairly linear in play, but the story line is great, the graphics are very nice (as much as the SNES can produce) and it won’t take 4 hours to finish! I’d say its a good 30 – 40 hours. So if you’re looking for some classic fun, it’s a winner.

The Legend of Zelda – a Link to the Past

Yeah i know…another snes game, yet another classic.  Still my favourite Zelda game. I’ve played through this one probably 50 times, and can still pick it up and not get bored. Looks great, and embodies everything that a Zelda game should be.

Final Fantasy 7

All I can say is….WOW! Your have no business playing games if you haven’t tried this one, LOL!

The holy grail of pennies!!

April 4, 2009 at 6:00 am (Neat Stuff)

I’ll never throw my pennies down the sewer drain without checking again! I stumbled across this in one of my random useless information quests.

The 1943 American “copper” penny. Only about 40 in existance. As the story goes, copper was in demand during war times, so they were made of steel and then coated. Apparently a few of them were punched out of copper….now they’re worth thousands!! The last one sold for about $90,000 at auction.

Pittsburg Penguins Cup Contenders

April 4, 2009 at 5:45 am (Uncategorized)

Are they in a good spot? As a die hard fan ever since the 91-92 season, i’d have to say absolutley! If they can maintain their current momentum, i may see another cup win for the ol’ pens. Fleury has been amazing, and with the addition of kunitz to crosby’s line, things seem to be working out quite well. Only 5 games left and currently in the 5th playoff spot….i think they could go the distance….or take a spanking in the final round like last year…..gotta watch!!

Good luck finding a station that broadcasts their games though. I get my cable through sasktel, pay just about $250 for EVERY channel, and i can only watch em play maybe every 4th or 5th game. Gimme a break! Looks like its webcasts for me until the playoffs start.

Go Pens Go!
